  • Is sunflower oil a good oil?
  • Sunflower oil is rich in linoleic and oleic fatty acids, making this oil more unstable at high temperatures than other oils such as olive and peanut [45 ]. Seed oil with high linoleic acid contents is suitable for biofuel production, and high contents of oleic acid make this oil suitable for food uses [ 29 ]. Table 6.
  • Can sunflower oil be used for biofuel production?
  • The residues of the sunflower crop are inexpensive and widely available substrates. These waste streams are typically burned or even left unused, creating serious environmental issues. In the present study, sunflower oil and its residues are used for biofuel production in the biorefinery framework.
  • Why is sunflower oil refining wastewater colored?
  • It can be seen that wastewaters resulted during sunflower oil as well as corn oil refining are highly colored due to the extraction of oil from vegetables together with color pigments and the presence of natural organics. Vegetable oil refining wastewater has high color content because it contains a lot of dissolved organic matter.
  • Can sunflower oil be refined?
  • An experimental oil refining unit has been developed and tested for refining of sunflower oil. Crude pressed sunflower oil obtained from a local oil mill was refined using chemical method by degumming, neutralization, bleaching and dewaxing. The quality and composition of crude and refined oil were compared.
