Two of Cameroon’s top five exports are Cocoa Beans ($492 million) and Bananas ($306 million). The country also produces coffee and cotton. The Cameroonian government has expressed the desire to both increase production in all four crops and move further up the value chain. Cotton production underwent variations during the period 1985–2015 marked by phases of growth and contraction. Between 1985 and 1994, its average annual growth rate was 2.8%. Between 1995 and 2004, this rate was 4.29%. On the other hand, it shows a negative value (− 0.3%) between 2005 and 2015.
